Personally I prefer the SP, looks sexy, performance is shit hot but there's not many around anymore.....another classic disappearing fast.

I like the classic too. But to fly in I would take the 744. But I fly 742 in FS and love it. Both are great planes.

The 744 for sure. 742 is a nice aircraft, sure, but you can't beat that more proportional hump, great winglets and more modern engine covers...

The VC-25A. It's a 742 with GE engines. Only 2 ever made, and IMHO, the ultimate 747s in the air. It's the only way to fly.  Wink/being sarcastic Regards.

I have to agree with Andz. 747SP is the best looking bird. I drive past this little (?) sucker every day on the way to work (BOH) and it looks awesome.
Surely there must be demand in Japan for a 400 version of the SP?

I like the 747-400F. It looks like a 200 series, but has the larger wing and the winglets of the -400. I prefer the -200 series overall.

Both are great and beautiful aircraft, but the bigger wings, engines and the winglets make the 744 the slightly better looking aircraft. But the original short upper deck looks better balanced than the long one introduced with the -300 series. If its shape alone, the 747-400F is the most attractive 747 ever.
The 747-300 is in my opinion the least attractive 747 series.
The 747SP is just cute and I like it very much although of cause it lacks elegance besides a 744.
I do not think a future 747 advanced will have better looks as it will be slightly stretched (generally not in favour of good looks) and will most likely have raked wingtips instead of winglets (what also doesn´t improve its attractivity).

I like the 747-200, it looks great in Virgin Atlantic Livery, plus I get to see them all the time at Manchester as the only two Virgin have are based here.

from a looks perspective the 744 is a little bit more classy but in terms of actually looking at one today in this day and age i'd much rather see a classic.

ask this question in 10 years and it'll say A380 or 744....

I would have to go for the B742, and the reason is simple...the only time I ever sat in a cockpit during landing (summer of 2001). It was such a brilliant experience that I just love the Classic now, and I'm very grateful to the BA staff.


It was this very aircraft, which operated on that LHR-CAI flight

I ahven't been on at 742 but I have been on 743's and 744's. So I would have to go with the 744 by default and elimination.
