Hi all,

I am about to book a day trip to the channel islands.

My arrival time at LCY is 08:10lt. I am traveling with bags.

What are my changes on completing the following itinerary?

AMS LCY 8:00 8:10
LGW GCI 14:30 15:25
GCI JER 17:05 17:25
JER LGW 19:30 21:05 via GCI

I will be traveling the first capital service to Gatwick airport. Is a 11:30 departure from London Bridge Station doable? This train will arrive at LGW at 11:55. After arrival I have to put my bag in a locker.

The GCI JER service is a Blue Islands flight. Are they reliable? And will this be a Trislander?

I really can not afford getting stranded on the Channel Islands. I have a red eye flight out of LHR the following morning.

If only I thought about this when booking my AMS LCY flight

Thanks for reading,

Tim,

This should be easy, an two and a half is hours more than enough.

It will be a Jetstream-32, Trislanders normally only serve the ACI routes.

If you haven't already booked it, what about flying LCY-PLH-GCI, cutting out the need for a train?

Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply. The LCY-PLH service leaves at 09:25. I think that's too close behind my 08:10 arrival. Remember, I travel with bags.

Even though the Jetstream would be great. Is there any change on getting the Trislander by flying Aurigny?

And what about the island flights. Do you think I have enough time to make it?

Thank you so much,

Tim,

I don't know if you are familiar with LCY, but it is a really quick airport to get through. I would think you could probably make the PLH flight at 09:25, if you wanted to.

If you fly with Aurigny between the Channel Islands, then your flight will definately operate on a Trislander. They have a large...ish fleet of the type, and they are the only type they utilize "domestically" with the ATR72 fleet used to/from the British mainland.

I have flown through the Channel Islands frequently in the last 12 months, and very quick connections are acheivable. I connected in under an hour at GCI and still had 30 minutes or so to relax in the very comfortable Blue Islands lounge there. Jersey is slightly more complicated because there is more walking involved, but 45mins should still be plenty of time to connect between scheduled flights. The time you are leaving yourself is certainly sufficient for a relaxing daytrip, just make sure to stay landside at GCI as long as possible for better view of the apron and the movements. The airside lounge is hampered by a glassed walkway along it's front, making photography impossible and spotting inconvenient. It can also get a little crowded when a GR ATR72 and BE Q400 are preparing to board at the same time.

I hope all that helps, and hope you have a fantastic trip.

Toby

Toby, thanks for you reply.

I think I will book the itinerary to GCI and JER. The GCI-JER flight will be on Blue Islands. I think the Jetstream will be a nicer experience.

First I have to book hotels for my 2 week trip. I hope the hotels will not be too expensive, and I have some of my budget left for this day trip.

Tim,
