I am going on holiday to Barbados in January and have the option of flying either in BA Club World or VS Upper Class. Can anyone tell me what is the likelihood of getting a flat bed in BA, or a suite in VS?.

Thanks

Jimmy

Hi Jimmy

The first LGW based 744 is going to recieve the VS Upper Class Suite refit in september, followed quickly by the others but it may be a gamble for you.

Flying to Barbados in BA Club World you will be on an aircraft with the flat beds. All British Airways aircraft on that route have the new cabins.

There are at least 3 aircraft out of five which should have the suites installed before january. Possibly more...

Barbados is a likely route to get the suites first due to high J class yields...

:P

I would fly virgin for the service, suites or not you would get #1!!!!

Hello,

I would suggest Virgin Atlantic, however I have flown British Airways a number of times to Barbados and twice I have been upgraded from Club to First.

I personally think that if your not flying First with BA, then Upper is the better bet, once you take into account the lounges etc.

between the choice of upper class and club world i'd take upper class both times even if we're comparing the flat bed and the J2000 seat as opposed to the UC Suite.

Especially if you're going on holiday you should prefer to be put in a good mood for the trip and VS will do this better.

Plus i'm sure Nova isn't any worse than Omnia.

i actually flew the old upper class at hte beginning of this month and here is the trip report in case you haven't already seen the old upper class.

Anyway it sounds like you'll have a good chance of getting the suite, so by all means I would recommend Virgin.

Was not aware VS has those accomodations yet in 1st, but my folks frequent flight on BA Club world and enjoy is quite alot. According to my dad, the BA fold down in 1st is the only place on a plane he has been able to catch some ZZZs...

VS.

No Suite to the Caribbean as yet, but J2000 isn't that bad. Still beats BA.

J2000 with the slope to the floor will never beat BA flat beds. The new VS suite is fantastic and if you can be promised that on a flight then go for it if the price is better than BA Club world. Flat beds and that is what you get at BA beats J2000 hands down!!!!

BA fully-flat has got to beat J2000. It is much more comfortable and private. Once VS has the UCS in all a/c, it becomes more of a level playing field, but at present, I would def go for BA

Those VS Recaro seats are fine for daytime flights, but when it comes to getting some sleep they're nowhere near as good as the BA flat beds.

Well you won't be getting the J2000, that's a definate! Those seats were ordered with the airline that ordered the LGW based 744s originally, Alitalia!

Personally, having sat in the VS Upper LGW Alitalia seat I would say go VS. I mean compare those picture by Tupolev! BA Club World on the 777s is crowded and always looks mixed up to me with all different directions!

Sam Big thumbs up

Oh and my Mum and Dad flew to St. Lucia on VS and Richard Branson was sat at the airport saying hi to everyone getting off Big thumbs up!!!
