Hi folks!
Last week I was flying with US Airways Express from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.
I have been flying this route in the old days usually with Southwest or Reno Air but as I am now Star Gold with Lufthansa (Senator) I've chosen US Airways for this route.
(btw they have damaged my luggage very badly - but of course Zippers, Handles and Wheels are not what they cover - but this is another story!)
I've noticed that there was no inflight service on this CRJ-900 of US Airways Express dba Mesa Airlines.
All the other flights I have done several years ago with WN and QQ I at least received a soft drink.
Do other airlines (i.e. AA/UA/WN/DL) still serve anything on this little hop (not that it would be necessary...but I am just wondering!) ?????

I think we (B6) do an "express" service much like the JFK-ROC/SYR/BTV/PWM/BOS routes where we limit what gets served. "Express" service here in the northeast will limit your drink choices down to (in the morning): bottled water, coffee, or OJ, or (in the afternoon/evening): bottled water and a few different soda choices. The snacks get limited from the full choice down to 2. Obviously if the weather is too bumpy where the f/a's have to stay seated, you're not going to get that service though.
Any B6er that is "in the know", please correct me if I am wrong.

I remember two years ago on WN, they served coffee and pretzels on our way from LAS to SAN. I have never experienced Mesa's service, so I can't say for sure. I assumed they would..

btw ... the flight was not full only about 1/3 full (like some 35 pax) on an CRJ-900 ! They did have enough time!
I was working for easyJet in Europe as Cabin Crew (for fun in the summer month) and even on short flights like LPL - BFS (20 minutes flight time) and LTN - AMS (30 minutes flight time) and SXF - CPH (35 minutes flight time) we went out with our full BOB !

I think the lack of beverage service was not due to the short flight length, but that is was US Airways Express. I have flown LAS-LAX many, many times on both Southwest and US Airways mainline, and there was always beverage service. However, a few years ago I flew PHL-PIT on US Airways Express, and there was no beverage service. The FA said it was due to the short flight length, but I'll bet they have the beverage service on mainline PHL-PIT flights.

I've noticed that with US Express a number of shorter routes have stopped the bev service and now make an announcement. The F/A will bring something upon request - though I rarely see anyone requesting.
I've done a number of LGA-PHL segments lately where this is the case and in the past there was beverage service (be it brief).

Back when US West was America West, they NEVER had a drink service on LAS-ONT/LAX/SNA/BUR. What you saw on the Mesa flight was an extension of those standards.
Southwest always struggled to get a service done on these flights, but they still managed to do it.
