I thought I'd start a second version of this thread, after three carriers which I've flown (Varsity Express, Highland Airways and South Airlines) have disappeared during March alone. It's a morbid figure, but hopefully the tides will begin to turn soon.

Quoting JRadier (Reply 4): Wow, did South Airlines stop operations?
Apparantly so. AirEvents had arranged to charter their An-30 in a few weeks, but yesterday I received an email saying their AOC had been revoked and the An-30 at least put of for sale. Hopefully flying something like the An-28 instead now, but failing that there is still the An-74 flight going ahead as planned.

I lived in Brasil in the late 70's. At the time, Varig, VASP, Cruzeiro and Trans Brasil were the only airlines in Brasil.
Can't believe they have all gone.
