Hi to you all!

Just found this link to AirAsia X new "PREMIUM SEAT" class: http://www.airasia.com/kh/en/myflights/premiumseat.html

As this feature will be introduced to STN, will we see a reconfigured ex AC A340 or a brand-new A330? What will happen the very old-fashioned ex AirComet A330-300?

ThanX for any help!

I was playing around with the D7 website for a flight from KUL-OOL and it shows it as flat beds. Therefore, I guess some A333s has been retrofitted with the flat beds.

One way I will fly around the world!

What i understand, is that all future aircraft will be delivered with the new product from now on, this includes the premium flat beds and a new economy seat, that will still be 3-3-3 abreast, but will have pitch increased to 31inches (79cm) and be slightly wider, the economy seat will also recline, like traditional aircraft seat instead of the flat shell seats that they launched with where the base slides forward.

Their last A333 was delivered with the new product, and has been seen on the melbourne route for at least a month and a half.

Air Asia X have said that all their aircraft will be progressivly upgraded to this standard. This includes A333 and A340 and all new delivered A330's.

From their booking's page, if you play around with the KUL-STN route for the end of the year, and you get to their "pick a seat" stage, it appears that the A340's are being reconfigured with the new product. And it is a strange layout. The A340's appear to be losing their 2-4-2 seating, and its being replaced with the new 3-3-3 economy seating and the 2-2-2 premium flat beds.

What is interesting about the A340 layout is that the first rows, rows 1-10 are economy 3-3-3 then rows 11-13 are premium 2-2-2 and then the rest of the aircraft is 3-3-3. What i can not work out is if the premium section is forward, aft or split around doors 2 of the A340.

The layout on the A330's are more traditional, with rows 1-2 being premium seats, and then the rest of the aircraft in the economy 3-3-3.

Here is another page for you to see the new product.

Air Asia X offered a great product, and this new offereing is even better, i will contine to fly them thats for sure, they are quickly becoming my favourite airline. Their 3-3-3 seating is really not that bad as it sounds.
