A friend of mine needs to fly from LHR to SYD with a bike.
Has anyone every done anything like this?
Are any airlines better than the others, such as including in allowance or cheaper additional fees?
Is there an airline that would allow additional baggage by joining their FFP?
Or should they just send it unaccompanied baggage?

I know some airlines ship bikes (bicyles) in boxes, while I´ve seen other cycles just without any protection in the cargo hold. You might want to have a look at that! It most likely needs to be checked as odd size luggage.
