....I want to fly somewhere tomorrow. I got really thrilled at the fact that OKC-SYD is only $980 staying one night in SYD, and could book a hotel with my miles, but alas, there's about $150 tacked onto that. Europe seems to be in the 1400-1500USD, while Aussie seems quite low.

Any suggestions? Would like a widebody flight.

Totally go to SYD. For that cheap and for that much flying (assuming you like flying), what a deal!

You want to sit in a Y-class seat on a UA 744 that hasn't been upgraded since 1989 for 14 hours only to do it all over again...a day later?

You do realize that flight is all night both ways, right? And there is *nothing* to see out the window anyway except a whole lotta clouds and water.

Power to you. I'd fly to SFO and explore our fine city.

What about flying to either coast and than hopping on a P.S. flight in J or F to the other coast and return home a day later or so? That would be far more bang for your buck than sitting in a UA Y seat for 26 hours.

Hong Kong?

That is one the top cities to visit in my mind, but no way would I just want one night. Grab a few nights in a reasonable hotel - the YMCA Hotel there is surprisingly good and a fantastic location.

If you can't make a few days in a great place why not just hop in your car and go somewhere for the weekend - saving the credit for a time you can stay a few days?

It's daylight for a significant portion of the eastbound. You take off at like 1pm then arrive in at 10am.
