I'm planning a short trip to SYD in late august, returning early september, and have found fairs which are really quite a bargain. With this in mind, here is my dilemma:
The two options I have are UA and DL. While DL is $10 more expensive than UA, they have slightly better pitch and AVOD on the flight from LAX to SYD, this would usually be enough to sway me, especially on such a long flight, but another factor comes into play:
Frequent Flier Status.
Taking the flight on UA would give me Lufthansa "Frequent Traveler" status. (Basically silver status).
Basically, the question is, which one is more worth it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'd agree the DL 777 product is better, however since like many you're open to becoming a FF groupie I'd say go ahead and achieve the elite level goal you have in mind.

CRAP. I almost had that extra flight in there too, but then my plans changed. Now though, I'm not sure when I'll be able to make it out to SFO or LAX in the next calendar year after the flight. Although I do have 500MQMs from this year. *sigh* choices choices.
