Good Morning !

Just wondering if anyone had any gen on this one...... Iran Air 710/711 from Tehran to LHR, which reverted back to a B742 with the summer schedule is now showing on Iran Air's website as being an A300. Have put every day of operation through the system in the next month and each time it comes up with A300 equipment listed....this is despite the whole of May to date having either EP-IAM (B741) or their -200s on this service with the Thursday flight being actually operated by a B747SP the last four weeks !

Now the website had the equipement listed as B742 up to only a week ago so just wondered what might have changed or whether it was a computer glitch ?

The reason I ask is am planning on visiting Iran in the very near future, one of the main parts of my itiniery being the thrill of flying on a B747 classic, not to mention the impending possible cessation of B707 operation by SAHA mentioned in another thread.

Any help or info would be much appreciated !

Cheers !

Afternoon xv105.

With regards LHR Equipment, IR have now reverted back to an Airbus on the route , this is purely due to the load factor. This will come into effect this Sunday 23rd May. However, IR are well known for last minute equipment swaps, so you never really know what will turn up.

As for the Saha 707's ... be QUICK. the Iranian C.A.O. have just granted SAHA an extension to fly until June 22nd only. The AB6's that were going to be operated by SAHA, will now go to a new airline called Iranian Airlines, and both are at present being painted up in THR.

I suspect that when this airline is finally up and running, the authorities will pull the plug on SAHA.....a great shame.

Like i said ..... BE QUICK.

Hi Tugmaster !!

Thanks so very much for replying with this gen....... hugely appreciated !!

And yes mate - I know the clock is ticking with SAHA...... am in the midst of final planning stages to visit W/C 14th June, it's been a right performance arranging everything with so little time after I heard the mighty B707 beasts had so little time left. Can't believe I'm gonna have to travel out there on an Airbus as the IR710/711 flights have always, as long as I can remember, reverted back to a B742 for the summer season.

Oh well - never mind, these things happen, as you say anything can really turn up with Iran Air as the schedules are hardly set in stone !!

Once again, thanks for qualifying this point mate, I was wondering what it was all about !

Kind Regards ;

xv105,

i have 2 friends who have just gone out to Iran, "Saha Flying"

Their departure last Thursday was sked as a 742, but ended up as a 74L ..EP-IAD.
Received a text yesterday saying the 707 flying is going as planned, but an IR 727 was subbed for a F100.
I have also in the past had an IR 727 flight subbed by an A300B2...no complaints there.
But, the IR sked is very very flexible when it comes to equipment swaps.

so you never know

Hi Guys - thanks for replying !!

UK-Dispatcher, we're flying out from LHR on 17th June arriving in TEH 18th June. Returning 22nd June. Have been speaking to Axel...guess you're in his party.....? If so, we'll see you there mate !!!

Tugmaster, the last four Thursdays an SP has operated the LHR flight...... As you mentioned earlier, it has now reverted to an A300..... EP-IBB operating yesterday. We can just hope and pray we might get a classic B747 one way, just typical timing but as long as we can get on a Saha flight it'll just be a means of A to B really !

Cheers !

One more thought on the 747s. Although it would be great to catch them asap, there are still plenty of chances to ride them in the future. You can fly them PEK-NRT-PEK or ICN-NRT-ICN (each twice weekly). I know a Japanese travel agent who can book tickets for this sector.

Also, since the trip report from fellow member Abrelosojos, we know that you can transit in IKA and hence not have the hassle of visas etc. The only difficult bit on this is to match the schedules and limit transit times as most flights do not operate daily.

And AFAIK there is no replacement in sight for their 747s, the recent refurbishment of EP-IAC has shown that they are committed to this fleet and I assume they will have several years to come. I have been on their 747 SPs, but I am still planning to catch their -200 and -100 at some stage.

Cheers
Loran
