Hello
In August I am planning on taking a flight to London to go and visit some friends. I have never used Heathrow so am deciding to fly in to and out of there. I will be flying from Edinburgh and I am just wanting to know which airline and terminals are best in terms of arrivals and departures?
I am concidering flying one way on British Airways and the other way on British Midland. I have flown on BA before but never on BD. However with strike action that looks like it may not be resolved anytime soon, I would like to know what experience is like on BD.
The other part of my question is airport experience at Heathrow. Is a departure better from T5 that T1? Or is it vice versa? The same question for arrivals.
Overall I would just like to hear other peoples opinions on the Heathrow expreience in terms of a domestic flight.

You've asked a bit of an ambiguous question, but I'll try and answer.
British Midland is just basically a glorified LCC. Buy-on-Board menu, but preassigned seats and free baggage.
As for terminals.. they're all pretty much the same. Terminal 5 looks prettier, but they all function to their desired requirements reasonably. How about departing from Terminal 5 on BA? Most likely your most 'exciting' terminal experience.

BD is great for the short flight. I enjoyed my flight more on BD than on BA, for some reason. The seats do seem to have this annoying metal bar where your bum goes (on the Airbus fleet at least) so after a while is it quite uncomfortable, but apart from that I have no complaints.

Thank you for your reply.
Well I imagine on such a short flight the metal bar would not be too much of an issue. As I say I have no experience of BD so am interested to hear what service is like on BD.
An 'exciting' terminal experience is mainly what im looking for. However is one terminal better for taking pictures than others? I usually take some photos of aircraft when im at an airport and if im at Heathrow I would definatly like the best opportunity.

The service is pretty much as you'd expect, they do a quick run with the buy on board stuff then they collect your rubbish then tell everybody to sit down for landing, there isn't much time to do anything else. They did it on my flight from Manchester to Heathrow so your flight probably won't be as rushed but there isn't much leeway for taking their time simply because there isn't any.
