I was looking up a list of flights departing HNL just now, and noticed that United has a direct flight from Honolulu to New York JFK. UA82 departs HNL at 12:33 PM, arrives in LAX at 9:05 PM, then continues at 10:40 PM to JFK with a scheduled arrival time of 7:01 AM tomorrow. I know CO has a non-stop HNL-EWR flight, but I'm wondering if there are other direct flights that go all the way out to the East Coast under a single flight number.
As a related question, what's the significance of having a single number instead of separately numbering each leg?

Delta has nonstop service to the East Coast as well, with daily A330-300 service to Atlanta.
Significance is that direct flights often show up before connections in GDS systems. It typically goes nonstop, then direct, then connections.
