Will be travelling to the UAE from Brussels next week. Abu Dhabi or Dubai makes no difference, but I have to fly coach (economy). What would you advise me from a comfort point of view? (seat comfort, meals, service on board, IFE, airport facilities). I limit my choices to those airlines on which I can accumulate more mileage.
1/ LH over FRA or MUC, further to the UAE on B744 (DXB), A333 (AUH) or A346 (AUH). Dayflights.
2/ BA over LHR, further to UAE on B772, same equipment for DXB and AUH. Dayflights.
3/ EY (Etihad) direct flights into AUH from BRU, on A332, outbound nightflight, inbound dayflight.
I am Frequent Traveller on LH and Club Silver on BA.
Any chances for free upgrades?
Your advise? I'd avoid the LH744 because of no up-to-date IFE, but never travelled on LH A333/346 neither did I on EY.
Given that option, I would look not much further, as long as the redexe flight outbound is okay with you.
Flying via FRA or even LHR only adds hours to your overall travel time - and adds chances for delays / missed connections. By the flight time you would touch down at FRA you also could touch down at BRU and be home.

Etihad are fantastic! There is no other way of putting it. They ONLY thing I would quib them for is there IFE is not as good as EK's (EY's is more comparable to SQ's), other than that they are far and away the best airline I've ever flown.
And the new terminal at AUH is a hell of an improvement on the old one, which was the pits; if you fly LH or BA to AUH then you'd still be going to the old terminal. On that basis go BA: with Silver you'll hopefully be able to get into the lounge and escape!!!

I would wholly recommend Etihad. They are great and AUH isn't too bad especially if you aren't transiting through the airport. I would even say you have a better chance of an upgrade on EY than on LH or BA.
