Hi All,
Soon I'll fly Malaysia Airlines Business Class from AMS via KUL to BKK and DPS. I thought I made a good choice, since MAS is a *****-airline according to SkyTrax, but... many forums seem to have negative things to say about their on board product. Sure, c/a's might be professional (+ nice and smiling), but people seem to mind the old a/c (mostly B744 and B734) with outdated (C-class) seats, cabin showing wear and tear, IFE sometimes not working properly (more frequently) and poor choice in content + limited choice of food on board (choice frequently runs out).
Is everybody fussy and is it still an excellent product or is MAS overrated by SkyTrax and should they loose their 5-star status? (which I suspect given the great products of SQ, CX, EY, QR, etc. At least their premium cabins don't seem to match up...). Anyway, thoughts?

I have never seen a shabby cabin on Malaysia aircraft, and I have flown on their 747, 777, A330, and 737 aircraft. In fact, the seats in the 737s I was on in April had been completely recovered in green, orange, and blue. It was really a refreshing change from the blue or gray seats that most airlines use nowadays.

A couple of the best flights of my life have been on Malaysia Airlines, as recently as October. I usually tend to enjoy my experiences onboard their flights.
