I was at MAN today and heard a conversation between a family at the side of me that made me laugh to myself.
There was a Belavia Tu154 on short finals and in great 154 style was kicking out some smoke, at this point a woman said to her husband, "Look that aircraft is dumping fuel, that must be why all the photographers are here".
How I didnt crack up laughing is beyond me, If any A-netters live in the Stockport area, please dont light up and post-pone any barbeques you have planned.
The husband then went on to say, "Big plane the Tristar".
Has anyone got any other great comments that have been heard by people not in the know but think they are?

On a recent flight (DEN-SAN) I overheard a young lady saying to her mother when she saw the plane at the gate (a 757): "Oh no it's a small one!"

As a PIA 777 was taxiing out she loudly said to her husband ''Look at that one, hasn't it got the funniest wings?''
I Couldn't help but laugh!
I also quite often here people say when a BAe 146 is taxiing by.... ''Aren't those 747s small up close!''

I politely butted in to the woman mentioned on my post that in fact the plane is not dumping fuel but it is smoke from the engines to which she replied "oh my god, the plane is on fire".
I just calmly walked away back to the salmonella bar - er, sorry the burger bar.

I actually make a habit of listening to some people to see what that come out with! I'm quite sad really, I'm sure you will agree! It never ceases to amaze how many people think an aircraft is taking off when in fact its landing!
