I work for an airline, and I'm going to fly out to Maui in a couple weeks, I was curious if anyone knows a good location to stay on the island for a decent price?

I definitely need somewhere that's near a beach.

Will have to cab it from the airport, and don't plan on having a car for the few nights we are going to stay so looking to stay at a property that is walkable to grocery stores/ bars...etc. I'm thinking a touristy area such as lahaina.

Thanks for any information.

ps. Anyone aware of any properties that have a good airline rate? Priceline seems to have quite a bit of stuff around the 100 range which is pretty good.

Thanks.

You can pitch a tent

Being an airline employee you should be able to get industry discounts for hotels. Call a few properties directly and see what they offer. I know the Outrigger group generally have pretty good rates after such discounts, but in general most hotels will have something or another as long as occupancy is not sold out.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

Call Hilton, Sheraton and Starwood Properties (Radisson) main reservation # and ask agents to check individual properties for air employee discounts. Ask about specific hotels - they can't just randomly scan for discount dates - but can find if specific properties are offfering discounts for the dates of your stay.
I generally have the best luck with Sheraton and Hilton, but Starwood is equally good offering a decent rate to book, and then getting a nice upgrade at check-in. I have consistently gotten discounts at Sheraton Surfrider and Prince Kuhio Resort (Hilton) on Oahu.
Good Luck with Maui,
Thomas

How about trying Priceline "Name your own price" and placing some bids?
Hawaii needs tourists with the on-going recession so you might strike a deal...

otherwise you can also look at some of the AYH accredited youth hostels.

There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

Kihei probably has the cheapest beach accommodations on the island...

Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!
