Just curious...anyone know which U.S. airline is growing the fastest? I'm noticed Allegiant has been growing very fast lately; can they be considered the fastest growing?

I've been noticing the same thing. It would appear to me that they're the fastest expanding "small" airline. But that's just a guess.

If you want to believe David Cush, the answer would certainly be Virgin America! (Personally, I don't...)

Technically, the DL/NW merger would make DL the fastest growing airline and the same will be said of CO/UA should that be approved.

On that basis, and over the last couple of years, then most likely DL/NW would be first followed by F9/YX.

OK not including mergers (my question was regarding natural, organic growth as opposed to growth through acquisitions!)

My guess would be Allegiant, first--hasn't their growth rate been like 30-40pct YOY? Then F9, JetBlue, VX, FL. But Allegiant has to be the tops.

And every couple of weeks I get to see that lovely starburst Mad Dog tail when they are IAH terminal A (they usually use F9's gate, DGS handling).

It may help to specify % or #, because a airline that goes from 1 flight to 10 grew 1000%

Ironically I have never flown a Delta MD-90 :)

Yes. This is all so relative. How about basing the comparison on sheer pax # growth? I would then think maybe VX on top, then Allegiant? I've no real numbers to base this on. I should pull out the last ATW issue and look at the charts in the back, but my eyes are too tired.

A time frame also changes things. If you go back far enough I bet you'd see WN on top (excluding mergers.) Going back not too far you'd probably see VX with a good growth

What about WN? They aren't expanding as much anymore but they seemed to be one of the fastest growing...

WN has always been one of the fastest-growing...now they are holding steady. One thing that has always impressed me over the years is that DL has consistently been tops for pax numbers--thanks to that incredible ATL hub--even way before the merger. Lots of short segments.

Allegiant and VX are still the ones for me in answer to this question. (I hope VX makes it through.)
