Hey, all. Yes, it's another "What to Expect Thread," but this time on AA. Woo, right? Seriously, I did do a search of this category, but I didn't find a previous thread on AA, so here we are.
Anyway, I'm booked to fly *MAZ-SJU-MIA-SFO on 10/28 with a SFO-LAX-SJU-MAZ return on 11/01 with AA and AE/OW and I was wondering what I can expect on the MIA-SFO and the LAX-SJU flights. The MIA-SFO is an afternoon flight with lunch scheduled and the LAX-SJU flight is a red-eye with breakfast.
Also, what's the legroom like on AE's ATRs? I'm afraid I'm going to be awfully cramped being 6'2" and all. And is 40-something minutes enough to connect from AE to AA at SJU?
I guess that's it. Thanks in advance to anyone who replies. ^^

Hola Kimmykun- I havent seen you around here in a while.
Well I havent flown an AA red eye or AA flihgts that are longer than 4 hours. But I guess these flights you'll be taking are normal AA transcon flights-with a meal service a movie and maybe a snack ?. What equipment will you be on between MIA and SFO ? At least between LAX and SJU you'll have MRTC. I dontt hink you'll flight between MAZ and San Juan are going to be that bad since its just like 25 mins (tops) fkying time.
Enjoy your time in Cali

First off... the ATR leg room is fine... I'm 6'1" and didn't get cramped on a full MSN-STL flight on one last year (1-1/2 hour flight)... You won't have a problem with that. I've only flown AA once, and I think I had the best experience I've ever had with regards to customer service/punctuality.
When I got to STL (My flights were MSN-STL-CMH-ORD-MSN) I was kinda looking at a 757 at the gate next to mine and one of the pilots came over and we started talking about it for a while before he had to go. One of the gate agents (who the pilot was friends with, the way it seemed) came over and talked with us for a while.....
ORD was awesome. I got off my flight and looked at the screen, and found a flight leaving 2 hours early to my destination leaving out of the gate I just came off of. I asked the ticket-agent at the gate if there was any availability for me to get on that flight... She pulled up my info, found that I had just came off that plane, and said sure and got me on to MSN two hours early. She warned me that my bags might not make the flight (good marks for atleast warning me of this) and I told her don't worry about it, because I work on the MSN airfield, so I wouldn't be too worried about it. She smiled and gave me my new boarding pass for the earlier flight and I was on my way...
AA overall has good people, no matter what station you are at (so it seems) and the people should be great. The aircraft are also in relatively good shape, so don't worry about that. BTW... my bags got on the earlier flight.
Hey Obama, keep the change! I want my dollar back.

AA is one of the few airlines I ever fly. One reason is a live in MIA. But they are great. Good service safe travels. The ATRs are fine. Plenty of room. In MIA you might have to walk a little depending on what gate you get in and what gate your connection is. But if you are there for more than 2 hours there is alot of good spotting there. expect a good flight. But beware if you get a 757 go to the ticket agent and try to get an Emergency Exit row for the extra room. I think it is row 17 but dont get the window seat because it does not recline. AA in my mind is the best Airline out there and I hope you have good flying.

Obviously, some of you don't fly the same AA that I fly and i fly them at least twice per month. One of the worse service that's out there. Ill mannered flight attendant and ground staff. I would call some of them pigs, but that may be insulting the animals frankly

Kimmykun: I am flying MIA-SFO at the end of this month and if you are flying the PM flights to SFO you will be flying on a 752. Being that the flight is a bit over 5 hours long, I would recommend you get a good seat since you are in a narrow body! Tip for next time: The 820am flight from MIA to SFO is on a 763ER with MRTC...if you prefer wide-bodies for longer flights! that is the one im taking. LAX-SJU will be on 763ER w/ MRTC so you will be just fine...must be a great flight.
