Does anyone know if anyone operates IL-62 passenger flights into Dubai (DXB) or Addis Ababa? Time is running out for this great Cold War airliner and I have an upcoming trip into this geographic region and it would be nice to get on one.

I know that Aria air have a few IL-62's (one crash landed) and they fly from Bandar Abbas to Sharjah, not sure what aircraft they operate on this route though.

tk747...As a U.S. Passport holder, am I risking my life visiting Iran? Sharjah - Bandar Abbas would be a neat quick flight.

There are no Scheduled or regular Charter IL-62M flights in the UAE any more.Aria Air no longer operate into the UAE any more,in fact since the IL-62 accident in Mashad.
The only Scheduled Russian Passenger Aircraft flights into UAE nowadays are the following.
Caspian Airlines TU-154M into DXB 3-4 times a week from TBZ/AWZ.
Daghestan Airlines TU-154M into SHJ once a week.
Tajikistan Airlines TU-154M into SHJ twice a week.
The winter sched will see the return of SU-IL-96 flights back in DXB and prob IL-86 of AYZ tech stops to MLE.but that is all.certainly not the place it used to be by any stretch.

The following Ilyushin website has information on the Airworthiness status of IL-62/IL-76.Does not state the current operator though but as of 1st Aug 2010 only 16 IL-62M are considered currently Airworthy it would seem.Doesn't mean ther aren't others flying though as I know many IL-76 flying are not listed.

The remaining Cubana example doesn't seem to be in the schedules, but it still seems to be active.
The is one active in Sudan with Fourty Eight Aviation, but I don't think this operates scheduled flights.
It is also unclear whether the Deta Air IL-62M Combi is still operating the weekly SAW-CIT flight or not, as it was reported stored back in Feb but has been sighted at SAW as recently as June - although it may be stored there since that is where it seemed to live.

LEEDS19...Thank you for your help. You saved me a lot of research! Yep, it seems no airport anywhere in the world, is what it use to be, especially for us enthusiasts! It would be nice though to get on that IL-86!

Interesting list, but it is definitely incomplete. For example, the two Sudanese aircraft are missing (both airworthy), and as far as I know the three Investavia stored in THR should also have a valid certificate (or recently expired one).
I have been after the Il-62 for a while now but I was still unsuccessful. At the moment the only chance is the Fortyeight Aviation or possibly Deta Air if operated. Air Koryo makes a random appearance in PEK and you can't just book a flight. My biggest hope is Aria Air to come back in THR, but there are no positive news so far unfortunately.
Apologies, I should have included the word 'scheduled'. I have checked CU well into 2010, the Il-62 has vanished from all scheduled flights since March 2010. If anyone knows of any scheduled CU Il-62 flights, please let me know.
As mentioned, Fortyeight Aviation is sometimes flying for Sudan Air domestically and Deta Air has an online schedule advertising the Il-62, however here is no evidence that this service is operated. All attempts from numerous users to contact the ticketing agent failed.
Same with Air Koryo, they do operate the Il-62, but only randomly on the PEK route. There used to be a weekly BKK flight in 2009, which was exclusively operated by the Il-62. However there is/was no chance to book a ticket on this service.
I think most Il-62 operators & services are discussed in detail here:
