Quoting WROORD (Thread starter): Do you agree with the opinion that those are the worst painted airplanes in the world?
I agree. That's just too much for me. too much color, too many lines, too much of everything. I am a firm believer in less is more

Quoting Kent350787 (Reply 6): I thought this thread was going to be about Atlas Air and its myriad peeling paintjobs! Misleading title.....
I felt for sure it would include the hideous CO 777 in the Peter Max paint scheme. It had a bit of a cult following on a.net at the time but I hated it!
Who had a 737 painted with The Simpsons characters, a few years ago? Marge Simpsons hair was on the rudder, unsurprisingly. I saw it in PDX a few times. Was it AS or someone else?

I think they are horrible.
Just to prove I am not a fuddy duddy, "Wunula Dreaming" was my all-time favorite scheme. I also liked Frontier's tails of various animals of the West.
I generally do NOT like spread out, undersized Billboard style lettering.
With regard to standard paint schemes, may I say that Spirit is absolutely horrible - those computer generated cubes do not compliment the lines of the A/C at all. Terrible, terrible mistake.

+1 I didn't care for the God-aweful thing either!!

Ones I didn't like from the slide show: X3 just didn't seem to make much sense. What's with the flamingo perched on the taxi cab? Sky Europe just looks cheap and tacky.

Yes, those are ugly liveries. I would add WN's excessive use of blue as well.
The 747: The hands who designed it were guided by god.

Quoting N202PA (Reply 4): What would have been interesting is to have a list of the world's worst regular liveries, not the special ones.
Post one, or a list of several, and we'll comment.
The "special" liveries are supposed to be attention-getters, so it's a given that they'll be garish and it's inevitable that they won't all be winners.

That was from the defunct Western Pacific Airlines. All of their planes were flying billboards.

Yup, WestPac. Many of theirs were cheesy, but a few turned out very nice: the one sponsored by the City of Colorado Springs was beautiful. But, not all were advertising billboards for others; some were done in their own colors, though each one varied.

No, I'm part of that cult. I love Peter Max art. And I loved Flying Colors by Calder. And those crazy Ecuatoriana paint jobs.
Quoting SSTsomeday (Reply 9): may I say that Spirit is absolutely horrible - those computer generated cubes do not compliment the lines of the A/C at all.
That no longer exists, though I thought it was distinctive, and I liked it. But, it didn't look at all like the cheap airline Spirit is, which is why they have a new livery.

I second that! I think the author of that photo gallery needs his/her eyes examined and get new pairs of glasses.
Agreed! Not only that...there were too many "Where's Peter Max" threads on A.net a couple years ago.... It got so so annoying..... I think the longest thread went to 22?

As much as I loved Braniff I, I hated the Caulder painted planes.
To add to the list of worst painted planes, I nominate the Reebok paint scheme of Braniff III.
