My thought would be to drive to ATL and take KE. Or see if you can do UA to ORD and connect to ANA. I would not want to go transpacific in economy on any US carrier.

Like RamblinMan said, take KE via ATL, the connection in Seoul-Incheon is wonderful. It's an airport worth visiting! Amazing airport. Plus KE is a good airline. However, if you want to fly on a better airline, use OZ via JFK or ORD, a very wonderful airline, really excellent service, food and product. Plus with OZ you could also use ICN, however, KE is also not that far behind. The downside is you have to transfer in JFK or ORD, but it's not that bad really.
If you really wanna go with either AA, CO, DL or UA, I'd go with CO, they have a better service and product than the others. But if you want top notch service you should fly with Asian carriers like OZ or KE. Plus they both fly to numerous Chinese destinations.

Only suggested KE because he lives less than 200 miles from ATL. I would look into a park-and-fly deal at a hotel near the airport, and just fly out of there. ATL-ICN is the longest flight I've ever taken, but the good food, PTV with loads of movies, and decent enough legroom on KE made it bearable. The crew was good too. Connecting at ICN was a breeze, and you're not a long flight from either NRT or PVG.
Next time I would love to try OZ- You're not the only one I've heard say it's a little bit better. Plus, I think they're still running a 744 combi into ORD.

I can highly recommend OZ. Their service is second to none and they are genuinely friendly. I remember them helping people fill in incoming arrival cards. I doubt most crews would even bother stopping to help. Cannot speak highly enough of them and would go out of my way to fly them if they flew to where I was going.
