I will be going overseas early next year and looking at tickets between DXB and KUL, Yemenia is by far the cheapest non stop flight. Does anyone have any experience with them on this particular routing?

I think Yemenia flies A330's.

If you want a cheap ticket, why dont you check out Air Arabia form Sharjah.
Yes, the route will be flown with A320
Yes, there will be flown via KTM.
Would be fun to try it out!

Via KTM? That's interesting. Why via KTM and not an Indian city like CCU?

One way I will fly around the world!

Air Arabia works out to be more expensive than Yemenia. I also think its probably the only time in my life that I would ever realistically be able to fly Yemenia

Live a little, go with Yemenia. Even if you suffer a lengthy delay when again will you have a chance to go to Yemen. Air Arabia sounds like another interesting proposition but Ymenia is more exotic.

I have flown them DXB-CGK which on some days is a tag on to KUL, although on the days I flew them it was not via KUL. This was in 2006 and was on the A330-200 which still operates on this route. The two A332s were pretty new at that time, but you shouldn't expect too much in terms of product or service. I still have an incomplete trip report from the flight which I will never finish, so here is a personal photo trip report for you!

Yes, the catering was as awful as it looked; there was no IFE at all, but I had an entire economy cabin to myself and found it a nice change to EK or EY in a strange way.

I also have some cabin shots somewhere - I will post them shortly for you.

Thanks a lot for posting those pictures, at least I now have a rough idea what it would be like . That food wow haha! It would be great if you could find the cabin pics that you took. Was the service abysmal? Were the passengers mainly Indonesians?

Thanks again!

I´d definitely go for Yemenia. Just spent a couple of days in the Gulf region and fancied a flight on their DXB-BAH sector but did not do it in the end. A lot of flights were cancelled in the past few days, including their flight from DXB to CGK which I saw cancelled twice. Don´t know if they have operational problems. But with the situation in Yemen apparently deteriorating by the day and a visit there less and less likely, I would definitely take the chance to fly Yemenia the easy way.

I flew out of AUH twice last week and onr of their A332s was parked at the ADAT facility, so it must be under maintenance. Maybe this is causing them problems.

It is a non stop flight from DXB to KUL so unfortunately I won't be able to visit Yemen, this will probably be the closes that I can get. The only issue I have with flying Yemenia is the fact that I will have an onward connection from KUL to SYD, I am not really worried about quality in the in flight experience.
