In late March, my partner and I will be going to Curacao for a few days' needed vacation. We are SkyMiles members (I'm medallion) and would like to earn miles on the trip if at all possible. I see, however, that DL does not currently offer flights to CUR (from anywhere). According to Orbitz, our options are basically AA through MIA or AV through BOG.
Now, I have read on DL's website that you can (at least for now) earn on AV. Fares are basically the same on AV or AA. Would people on this board recommend AV? I have heard various accounts of them through reading trip reports. Also, is it really true that you can earn DL credit from AV flights, or in reality does this not work? I am well aware of AA's product (or lack thereof, depending on your view). Can someone compare AA to AV in this regard? Also, is about 60 minutes connection time in BOG even enough?
Any replies you could offer would be most appreciated.
Thanks,

The question is can you earn miles on AV from the US to Colombia. I am not sure how it works with DL. But lets say on One World. Before the ATI I could not earn AA miles on US-UK flights but I did earn miles on UK-Non US flights with BA. So is it worth the extra time flying down to Colombia for the DL miles on just the BOG-CUR route? Thats your decision. It would be cool to fly a new airline of course. But the easiest thing would be JFK-MIA-CUR on AA. I have never flown AV so I will let someone else comment on their service and ease of connections in BOG.
