Hi all
I might be going on a business trip soon and will take CX from one of their European destinations to HKG. As they don't fly from my hometown I will transit somewhere. I can either go via AMS, MXP or CDG as the fares are the cheapest in C class from those destinations.
I flew this year with CX C class from MXP-HKG and found MXP airport dreadful. Also on the return leg they could not transfer my bag during my 2h30min layover which was annoying. The plane used was one of their newer 773ER which had a nice C class cabin in a 1-2-1 layout and I got to sit in the first row which is in the mini cabin before F class which is a bit quieter.
My questions now are:
1) Which airport is the best to transit (from choice above) and which plane (choice of B744, 773ER or A343 (red-eye from CDG)) has the most comfortable cabin in C class?
2) Is there any other airline which is better to HKG? I dont want to fly LX as they are almost 3'000 USD more expensive and I want to fly with a fully flat bed.

Yes I know they all have the same seats. However which cabin is more comfortable? i.e. the 773ER is 1-2-1 but the A343 is 1-1-1 and the B744 has upper deck or main deck etc.

According to the current weekly LX e-mail newsletter they are now using A340-300s modified with their new J class fully-flat bed seats (as on their new A330-300s) from ZRH to HKG.
Newsletter excerpt:
Enjoy the new SWISS Business: on A330-300 flights from Zurich to Nairobi/Dar es Salaam, Douala/Yaoundé, New York (from Zurich and Geneva), Dubai/Muscat, Mumbai, Delhi and Montreal. And on the A340-300 to San Francisco, Boston and Hong Kong. Come spring, also on flights to Los Angeles, Johannesburg and Shanghai.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Since you are alone I'd take the 773 flight, and sit on the 1 side. I'm not a huge fan of redeyes as I've done too many in the past.
