Hello,

I’m intending to fly from BKK to HKT. Rather than trying “boring” airlines I was planning to use Orient Thai. By the way they offer the cheapest deal on my selected travelling date. And luggage is free as well.

I was wondering if someone knows if they usually operate with a MD80 or with a 747 on this route. I would fly on 04DEC with OX8223 dep Bangkok 15:40, arriving Phuket 17:00.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thank you
Reifel

OX8223 is (according to the Orient Thai website) being operated by a MD-82. And according to the same website its not departing from BKK but from DMK?

Aircraft change can happen, but its scheduled to an MD-82.

Have a nice trip!

If you plan to fly out of Don Muang (that's where Orient Thai's flights to HKT depart from, iirc), take Nok Air http://www.nokair.co.th instead. Safer airline with a character, gorgeous flight attendants, Thai Airways subsidiary.

And nowadays it will probably be a -300. They are also apparently now in the process of recieving ex-JAL -400s, so the classics' days must be numbered.

Thanks for the update.
I better book a flight soon before they're gone.

Can you post a link?!

Normally:
Don Muang = domestic flights
Suvarnabhumi = international flights

Phuket is also in Thailand, so it is domestic (as if we didnt know that :S), and at http://www.orient-thai.com when you click domestic, you get linked to http://www.flyorientthai.com, click the English flag on top, and theres no BKK in the list of departure airports.

According to the Dutch wikipedia Orient Thai departs from BKK on flights to Hong Kong, Jeddah, Kathmandu, Malé and Seoul-Incheon.

I drove past Don Muang last week. The only Orient Thai 747 I saw was missing it's tail and 2/3rds of its wings and missing 3 of 4 engines.
It's safe to say that airframe will never fly again.
