As the title says, which airline do you beleive has the Best In-flight Entertainment Systems. I know that Virgin's V:PORT is highly regarded, but which airline has your favorite?

SIA A340-500 Krisworld on Matsushita 3000i series is IMHO one of the best around.

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

You got the answer already: Virgin V:PORT -- best I have seen. Krisworld is ok, but not as good. Emirates' IFE is descent but not great. In the US, B6 is great as you get live broadcast.

My $0.02.

I'm from the videogame generation. My attention span is short. Big grin

The window is fun, but after a couple of hours it gets old. A good book or good IFE (airline provided or my laptop with a couple of movies) is the only way to fly.

It's got to be some sort of AVOD system. I hate trying to time the start of movies or programs.

I heard an airline will include a pilot's view camera during take off and landing that's connected to the passenger's IFE. Does anyone know if that's true and what airline.

What would be cool if they have a channel dedicated to live ATC broadcast like UA does on their flights.

i am very sorry to ask, but what is an AVOD system? i never heard of this...
i also have the idea that many flights within europe (in economy) don't offer IFE, or am i wrong here?

It's real exciting looking at the Atlantic ocean in the middle of the night... Stars are cool and such but after about ten minutes it's sure boring.

AVOD = Audio / Video On Demand.

Newest in inflight entertainment systems. You can select start movies, games, radioprogrammes, etc on your own time. These systems are great. Flew with them on KLM's 777's and NW's A330. With both airlines really pleasant systems. KLM topped off with 70-80 different movies to choose from.

Northwests domestic IFE tops out with the WINDOW SEAT LOL

But real IFE, has to be Northwest AVOD on the A330 and select 744's in WBC, A330 is AVOD throughout the aircraft.

Just to add to Burnise28s post... all the 744s will be equipped with the new Worldbusiness class lie flat seats and the new AVOD by years end. Eventually I would presume to Y class cabins will be retrofitted.

From what I have experienced, CO has the best IFE system. That 10 hour EWR-HNL flight really goes by fast with the system.

How is USAirways A330 Sony P@ssport sytem? I've heard that is supposed to be good. I believe it is also on demand.

Kjet- My vote goes to US Airways' P@ssport system! That is as incredible as they say it is...it's all on demand & there's plenty of stuff to choose from consisting of movies, TV, music, etc. Definitely the best of the IFEs I've dealt with over the years.
