I thought I would make post about Hawaiian Air wide body history, though my eyes. Back in the 80's they operated L1011, and the last time I saw a Tristar in HA color was 1994, now around that same time ex AA DC10 stated showing up at LAX in HA colors, then HA started buying ex Continental DC10-30s. In the early 2000's, HA started to replace their DC10's with 767's. Now at first, I did not like the HA 767's until they got winglet, then they became very good looking. Now HA operates these new Airbus A332. What are your memories of HA wide bodies.

AirFleets claims they had 8x L1011s in the mid-80s to early 90s although I can't remember seeing them in person (at HNL, a least). We flew UA (exclusively) to/from the isles and I suppose I never gave much thought to HA or any of the non-legacies at the time (at least those that didn't operate the 747). I do recall, however, HA's ubiquitous metallic-hued DC-10s and was glad to see those fly the coop in favor of the 763 and updated livery they flash nowadays. The metallic-skinned scheme washed out HA's colors/logo which even in its older form was beautiful (I think it does the same for AA, but that's for another thread).
While I haven't had an opportunity to check out their A330s, I've flown HA's 763s on two occasions and found them to be pretty much par for the course in terms of comfort, cleanliness, appearance, etc. IMO, HA's service is what really sets it apart from other carriers serving Hawaii which is frankly not surprising considering HA is essentially the "national" carrier for Hawaii in general (if there were such a thing).
I can't imagine what a 777 would look like in HA livery but imagine it would be gorgeous.

The HA DC-10-10's were leased from AA and the lease required that the bare metal skin remain. The color of the stripes were changed and given a slight curve and taper a the tail. Otherwise it was AA through and through with an HA name.
