I was trying to book a flight to MIA for April, and it's going to cost between 4 and $500 round trip (even on WN!), whereas going to the West coast, you can go for SO MUCH LESS?

Spring Break for most of the East Coast is done during Holy Week...which happens in Mid-April.

Precisely - fly down on Apr 8 and back the next week and I'm seeing plenty of $199-209ish fares on just about everybody out of all 3 NYC airports.

Fly down on Apr 15 and back the next week and the fares jump into the $300s.

Fly down on the 22nd and back the next week and you're back in the low $200s.

If you're coming from someplace less competitive than the NYC market, the spread is probably even more radical.
But this is perfectly normal for the Spring Break migration.

My wife and I are flying into ECP on 14 April from OKC...not cheap. However, it was cheaper to fly onto MCO before returning home...so there's a plus.

yeah, the week that schools are on break is terrible to go. If you don't have kids, or you don't work in education, I suggest going at a different time...............or go someplace cheaper..........I think I'm going to try Bermuda instead!
