My friends
We are 3 person and decide to go to an Asia trip (Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Singapore & Kuala lumpur) late this year. Our flight is like this:
Tehran -> Bangkok -> Pattaya -> Bangkok -> Phuket -> Singapore -> Kuala lumpur -> Tehran
OR like this:
Tehran -> Kuala lumpur -> Singapore -> Phuket -> Bangkok -> Pattaya -> Bangkok -> Tehran

About trip between cities like bangkok -> phuket , phuket -> Singapore & Singapore -> Kuala lumpur Air Asia X has a very cheap flights and it is OK for us but about trip from Tehran to Bangkok OR Kuala lumpur to Tehran I could choose from 4 airlines:
1- Emirates 2-Qatar Airways 3-Etihad 4-Air Asia X

About the Ticket price for 3 person on that date I check Emirate, Qatar, Etihad & Air Asia X.
Emirate's Price is 2350 $ (Tehran -> dubai -> Bangkok , Kuala lumpur -> Dubai -> Tehran)
Qatar's price is 2125$ (Tehran -> Doha -> Bangkok , Kuala lumpur -> Doha -> Tehran)
Etihad's Price is 2320$ (Tehran -> Abu dhabi -> Bangkok , Kuala lumpur -> Abu dhabi -> Tehran)
Air Asia X's price is 2223$ (Tehran -> Kuala lumpur , Kuala lumpur -> Tehran)
(From now til 10/Nov/2011 Price fom tehran to Kuala lumpur and return for 3 person is 1443$ but after that date price is increasing to 2223$!)

Now I want your opinion. Which airline do you suggest for my trip?

I would go for Qatar, their service quality is outstanding and their economy product is not so cramped in their airbus fleet, as it is on the 777s of EK.
Air Asia X is not a choice, you have to pay for everything, and they have 9 abreast in a A330, which is not good for such long flights.

Did you check the prices my friend?!

If you go to www.mahan.aero website then you can search flight IKA-BKK-IKA and you can see the price for economy for 3 person on September 2011 is 26385000 IRR OR 2537US$!!!
in Bussiness price is 44319000 IRR OR 4261 US$!!

Then do you select Mahan in these prices?!

I'd say QR. Their economy class is one of the best out there and it's the cheapest option.

Immediately I thought to myself QR, and when you posted the prices, I would definitely choose QR.

Based on the price, I too would go with QR. However, based on my experience of QR, EK, and EY, I prefer EK and EY.

My friend, If the price doesn't be important then could you please tell me more about your experience that cause you prefer to fly by EK than QR?

I had 4 flights by EK before but I don't have any with QR before. I really want to know more about QR services and flights.

Thank you.

Based on my experience of QR (in economy), I find their cabin crew disinterested and self-important and somewhat careless (the IFE system of a passenger sitting beside me did not work, and he asked a cabin crew member two or three times but they never bothered to come back despite saying they would). Moreover, the armrest on an 330 didn't work properly, and don't get me started on the truly awful DOH with its hugely poor retail (cafes/restaurants) facilities. For me, if an airline actively promotes itself as 5* my expectations are higher (including the airport experience) and that it has to achieve it - it must not over-promise and under-deliver. In my experience, it does not live up to 5* - maybe 3-3.5*.

Anyway, no doubt others will rebut my experiences and beliefs, but there you go!   However, given the price difference and assuming sufficiently attractive connecting times, aircraft, etc., I would fly QR again - but I probably wouldn't particularly look forward to it.

I'd go for Air Asia X mainly due to personal sympathies for the airline and its founder and dislike of the Gulf carriers. Also, when considering them make sure you pay enough attention to connection times. I don't know if that's the case with flights from/to Iran but EK and QR flights from Europe for relatively cheap fares often include extremely long connection times, which in a dump like DOH are unbearable.

Can someone show me a website or get me Jeppson charts for departure routes from LAX to Dubai and from Dubai to LAX? Thanks, appreciate it. They need to be FAA approved!

My friend,
I checked the schedule time for those flights. QR has 1:45m wait between flights for Tehran to Bangkok and it has 1:35 wait between flights Kuala Lumpur to Tehran.

Vahidpm - seems you're keen on QR, so considering the price, connection times, and the fact that it is pretty good - not 5* in my experience, but pretty good - you're best going for that.

After reading some of the latest -negative- stories about QR and their businesses, I would not spend my money on that carrier. I recommend you to have a look in the tripreports section on this website.
