1h55min Enough Time To Transfer At JNB?

I am booking an award travel, and it seems one of my better options to Europe from Australia is through JNB!
However, is 1h55min enough time in JNB

I will be arriving at 16:50 from PER with South African, and departing at 18:45 with Lufthansa for FRA. As it is an award trip, it should all be on one ticket.

Is there good airside transfer facilities, or must I pass through Customs, etc.?

I know the route is somewhat out of the way, but I have never tried SA and never tried LH longhaul (and it's the A380!)

Should be more than enough, if it was international to domestic I wouldn't be so sure because you have to claim bags and clear customs before going to the domestic terminal and rechecking.

I have never transferred international to international at JNB (because I live here) but as far as I am aware there is international airside transfer.

I've only transferred International -> Domestic and vice versa, but there are signs for connecting passengers. All one building, so 1h55 shouod be fine.

Thanks for the info. But travel plans have changed slightly. Will be going to Europe through BKK (better connections to my final destination), but back through JNB, and I will have about 4 hours then, so I have absolutely no worries know.

Interchanging at JNB was fine, I had my passport stamped though which was slightly curious as I was transferring international to international! Oh, and a friend had a load of batteries confiscated from her hand luggage...

I actually wouldn't mind having my passport stamped, I think it would be awesome to have a South African stamp in my passport!

I cannot wait for this trip. One new airline (practically two as I have only done LH shorthaul), and two aircraft types that I love, but only traveled on once before (A380, A340-600)

1h55m would be enough IF your flight landed on time from PER. Personally I wouldn't have risked it. Sounds better going via BKK on the way there and via JNB (the 4 hour connection is perfect) on the way back, it's always nice to visit different airports.

I've flown on a few SAA A346's, great aircraft, try and get seat 73D. I'm doing FRA-JNB on the LH A380 in September

Thanks. I will. Was wanting an aisle seat anyway, not much point having a window seat on an overnight flight that is completely over ocean.

It would be fine. I did a 1:20 TM to SA transfer last month and had time to spare. Just be aware that the transfer desks at JNB are understaffed (at least the SA one is) so that may be a bottleneck. I suggest checking in online for your LH segment if you can.

What was not explained is the reason for getting this seat. There is no seat in front of it as the escape hatch for the lower deck crew rest is in the floor where 72D would be. Lots of leg room! The downside is that you will be almost last to disembark.

Yeah. I chose the seat for my Grandad who flew from JNB-MUC on the SA A346, he said it was the best seat he has ever had

I got an email from SAS Eurobonus today. I was expecting the confirmation on the trip, but they told me the routing through JNB would require 240,000 miles instead of 120,000, so it seems its a no go, and I'm very dissappointed (and still don't understand why the route would be so many more miles, and why they couldn't tell me that when I called them).

I realized this from seatguru.
