Good day.
I have a question regarding upgrade awards on star alliance.
Will I be able to upgrade one leg (OSL-BKK) with TG using frequent flyer miles, even if the ticket is an award ticket (bought using frequent flyer miles).
I didn't have enough miles to buy a whole return in business class using ff miles, also, the miles I would want to use on the upgrade are from a different FF program than the one I used to buy the return economy ticket.
If they don't allow me to do so over the phone, is there a possibility they would allow me to do so at the airport IF there are seats available?
(ticket is bought using SK miles, upgrade would be with TK miles)

Quoting Sandager (Reply 2): If you were a member of Thai Airways ROP you could have used your miles at the check in to upgrade, space available...
Funny thing is, I do have Thai Airways ROP, but barely any points, since I used them last year to upgrade!
I have a second question, I think I know the answer, but is there any possibility to transfer points between TK FF and SK FF and get a business class award (I don't have enough on either, but enough in total).
Edit: Star alliance website says no to the above. But if anyone knows a way around this, I'm all ears (or eyes in this case)

Not possible.
You can do the TG standby upgrade but it will likely be about 700-800eur to business one way. Was 550 a couple of years ago FRA-BKK.
But it would be cheaper to buy US miles when they have a 100% bonus promo and fly F...
