What Is Your Favorite Airport Dining Spot?

You know what I am talking about, that one place that the thought of going to is almost enough to bring a smile to your face as a TSA agent gets to 2nd base with you. For me, everytime I fly through YYZ-T1, I make sure to run down and grab me some TIm Horton's. Nothing like a chocolate milk and a chocolate dip donut to remind me of my days growing up in that frigid frigid land. Here in the US, I would say the Boar's Head deli at T5 in JFK is the tops for me. Something about entering my order in all by myself on that touch pad makes me feel like I actually created the sandwich.

What's yours?

Until my death, I'm bangladesh.

I like the New Belgium Hub at DEN...very good food, tons of great beer selections (the only restaurant owned by the New Belgium brewing company), and if you're lucky enough to sit at the bar, the employees are highly entertaining especially when things aren't too hectic.

I always walk past it on the way to the high-number UAX gates, but every time I pass, it's crazy crowded.

Can you actually get serviced in under an hour?

Potbelly at MDW is probably my first choice for any airport. Other airports I just tend to stick to the standard McDonalds/Subway/Panda Express/etc. options.

The service is surprisingly quick. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my order to be taken, and the food always seems to arrive sooner than I expect. It's a little spendier than I'm used to, but then again, it's in an airport, and it's much better than the usual fast food.

PDX was full of good places to eat...I almost forgot about it, it being my original home airport I took it for granted. Pizza Schmizza on the far end of the C concourse is very good, as is Gustav's on the same concourse. Pizzicato in the food court is also well-made gourmet pizza. There are also two full-size upscale-ish restaurants near the food court, one of which (Stanford's) is better than average - when I worked at HP/US we used to get vouchers for a free meal on Christmas there...always a welcome break from the ramp.

Ruby's diner is my favourite in EWR Terminal C. Only been there once, but man, what a great burger that was.

"Hickory Burger: Two slices of melted Cheddar cheese with smoked bacon and crispy onion rings, all topped with our own zesty BBQ sauce."

In YYZ (my home airport), Terminal 1 Tim Horton's or Wolfgang Puck Express is always my choice. Usually it is just a large English Toffee and Chocolate Chip muffin the to boarding, but if I have more time and it is around a meal time I go to get some Wolfgang. If it is Terminal 3 YYZ, US Pre-clearance (where I unfortunately find myself often), I bring food. Or eat at my next airport, no options at all.

In ATL, if time permits I like to grab a few mini burgers and chicken sandwiches from Krystles on the A concourse. I've also eaten at Ruby's Diner at EWR and agree they have pretty good food as well as the BBQ place at Terminal C in IAH.

I have a few that come to mind:
DCA: Fuddruckers in terminal C. Love it almost always get someone when I leave, if I am not eating fuddruckers then its potbellys.
IAD: Five Guys in B
BCN: There is a mcdonalds I always went to and yes it is just mcdonalds but its Europe so the menu was different and IMO tasted better.
MIA: I do not eat much in MIA since I am always coming from home or going home but La Carretta in D is pretty good. I never really looked at much of the food options but they are getting better now with construction finishing up. Also there is the burger king before security I have been to many times and a food court with many different options before security too.

Again, it's always crazy crowded there.

I always wind up at the Berghoff Cafe over in C concourse where the food is good enough to stand in queue and wait as long as it takes.

I'll second that motion. In fact, now I think I'll go to my local branch for lunch.

There's also that barbeque place in Austin (forgot the name).

I'm also a fan of the Encounter at LAX.

When I need to be guaranteed I can get in and out and make my flight, I eat at the Paradise Cafe (slightly less crowded than the one in PHX where you can never find a place to sit down) upstairs in the Mezzanine over the train station in DEN B concourse.

A "Tim Horton's" in Canada. Wow! What are the chances.

Seriously, I'm reminded that every one is different. For instance, In downtown Calgary they take the place of (for example) Dunkin Doughnuts in the US. But in the Martitimes, most Tim Horton's are also Wendy's franchises.

How is the one at YYZ different?

A bit hard to find, yes?

I mean -- it's not like they have five or six brightly illuminated *red* 25 foot signs hanging overhead throughout the airport.

Generally I find most US airports have quite a limited selection of full service restaurants, beyond the usual crowd of fast food, sandwich, coffee and donut places. There are a few exceptions I've stumbled across and enjoyed...

EWR - Gallaghers Steakhouse
PHL - Legal Seafoods (amazing crab cakes)
IAH - Pappadeaux (will take a later flight and longer connection just to get the crawfish combo!)
PDX and SEA had a couple of good local restaurants IIRC but it has been too long since I visited.

AMS - Cafe Amsterdam (perfect breakfast place after an overnight TATL)
CPH - Hereford Beefstouw

I have done all of these! Fuddruckers is great and I would have never imagined an airport location. The new La Carreta is pretty much fully up and running now the only downside is that it is not available to anyone outside of security.

I am a big fan of Chipotle and they have one In Terminal B at IAD pretty much food paradise. Aunt Annies pretzels, FIve Guys my favorite burger joint behind IN-N-OUT which I only had on my one trip to California. Chipotle is my almost weekly stop.

Chipotle has stated that this is their breakfast testing location. I have yet to try a breakfast burrito there.
