This is hypothetical. I'm betting a lot of buckaroos and connections, not to mention the cut throat competition. Anything I'm missing? Knowledge on what it takes? What would you call yours?

Start by investing billions and then expect to start making millions.

LOT'S OF MONEY, and at least a little bit crazy! It can still be done, most likely in Asia, as that is where the growth is.

Put lots of people together and get $500 million dollars. Put this money in a big box and burn it in the fireplace.

Bingo! You're an airline.

Often I have found myself resting on my lay-z-boy contemplating whether I should start my own airline. I got a couple of hundred bucks in the ole piggy bank, that should get a down payment on a Tu-154 at least. I figure if I just find really really attractive flight attendants, people wont mind the holes in the fuselage. Maybe get Snoop to start rapping about 'rolling in my -54', and see if I can make flying Russian style a new hip-hope trend.

Thumpship Air. You heard it here first folks.

I have a better idea: Just send the money to me.

seriously though If I were to start a new airline I would probably start by leasing capacity from a ACMI provider and start flying between secondary airports close enough to large metropolitan areas and in the tourist seasons fly underserved leisure routes although I doubt i'll get that very far.
