Not a really good day for the passengers on US 729 today... After an 8+ hour flight, they land in a different airport, parked on a remote stand for at least 3 hours (flightaware shows the ACY-PHL is still on ground), most of them must have already missed the connections... and, I guess the crew are running out of hours?
When/If they run out of hours, can they let a new crew on to the plane, or would they have to disembark? In that case, and if customs are only available 9am to 5pm, what happens?

Since the aircraft landed before 5pm.. customs would remain until it departs. If they had to change crews, customs would be able to clear the crew coming off. Keep in mind, ACY only has private planes that are int'l, so we only have one customs person on each day, so clearing a plane with 200+ pax would take a long time, plus we have no where to clear them yet (FIS bldg wont be done til next summer.)

Hope this extra info helps...BUT...
This morning there were ships in the harbour, which halted use of RWY 35 (the regional reliever rwy). By the time the ships moved off, Obama had landed causing a ground stop. They were just getting it cleared, when it was time for him to leave, apparently he took an extra 15min then was expected... This caused an extended ground stop, which when cleared, only led to another ground stop to clear the backlog hovering above...so PHL was a slight mess all day...
We had a few flights, take over a 60min delay....however, this is FAR from the worst PHL can experience on any given day.
