Where To Fly A Flybe E195 & An Air France A318

Trying to plan a trip around Europe in June and trying to include some new airlines and aircraft.

Any ideas on which routes on the following.

Flybe E195.

and

Air France A318.

And why do some airlines still want to charge stupidly high fares for one ways, yes I know the reasons for doing it but in the internet age these old pricing practices are rather archaic.

What you could do is, for example, fly BHX-CDG-BHX, or vice-versa, thereby not only getting a much better return fare (AF's one-way fare on the route is very expensive), but also getting on an AF 318 and BE E95 (they code-share). This might be the cheapest (about £160 return if it's a daytrip, or around £85 if staying a Saturday night) and easiest way to fly both aircraft. E.g., 0930 departure from BHX (318), 1525 or 2045 departure from CDG to BHX (E95).

If this doesn't appeal, BE utilise the E95 on numerous routes. Do you have a preference as to which airport (assume the likes of LGW, SOU, BHX, MAN, EDI, GLA, BHD)? If you tell me any preference and which date you're particularly looking at, I'll go search (it's possible to tell which aircraft is scheduled to fly each BE route by doing a dummy booking and looking, as you proceed, on the right-hand side).

AF does offer some more reasonable one-way prices on some domestic flights. For example, I just found LYS-BOD one-way from under €60 of which 3 of its flights were aboard the 318.

No idea whether you've already flown them, but you can also fly, for example, the J31 (and J32, although you can't tell which will be operating the flight until you walk out), BNT, BNI (if you were interested, you could also fly the world's shortest scheduled flight), SWM, L4T, and D28 pretty easily and, often, pretty cheaply within the UK. The DH6 can also be had, albeit more expensively - but it would include a landing/take-off on a beach. The J41 and S20 are also possible, but pretty expensive.

CDG-BHX could work for a day trip, I was looking at Dublin for an overnight trip starting from LHR and ending up in LGW 36 hours later.

I plan to be in Paris at the end of my trip.

Plan so far is LHR-?-DUB-?-LGW-BIL-MUC-NAP-MXP-PRG-ZRH-CDG-TLS-LHR

I have 13 days, I am sure Planehunter or Flyingfinn76 could suggest a few more segments.  

LGW-BIL-MUC is on Cimber Sterling CRJ200
MUC-NAP is on Air Berlin
NAP-MXP-PRG is on Lufthansa Italia
PRG-ZRH-CDG is on Swiss
CDG-TLS-LHR is Toulose for an Airbus factory tour.

Longhauls fly into and out of LHR.

1st ? could be MAN as I want BMI and was looking at Aer Arann.
2nd ? could be Cork if I couldn't get Aer Arann on the way to Dublin.

Ended up booking some flights.

I am flying Qantas to Sydney connecting to Qantas to Hong Kong connecting to London on Cathay Pacific.

Europe 2011


LHR-MAN on British Midland
MAN-DUB on Aer Lingus
DUB-OSL on Norwegian Air
OSL-CPH on SAS
CPH-BLL-MUC on Cimber
MUC-NAP on AirBerlin
NAP-MXP-PRG on Lufthansa
PRG-FRA-CDG on Lufthansa
CDG-TLS on Air France
TLS-LHR on British Airways

BMI and EI were happy to change the booking to AUD
SAS converted the whole booking in AUD
LH Italia were pretty painless booking, expensive for 2 flights but I wanted a combined booking, it might have been cheaper to book the NAP-MXP-PRG as 2 different tickets but I didn't want to deal with a misconnect in Italy.
PRG-FRA-CDG was using BMI miles, I really wanted LX but BMI Diamond club couldn't or didn't want to find me any flights on Swiss, the BMI issued itinerary took 5 days to show up.

Which is better than the AirBerlin itinerary which never showed up. They charged the credit card fast I have the reference number. Is there any way to to get another itinerary sent, without having to ring Germany to get it from them.

I might fly CDG-BHX-CDG as a day trip, I have the time but do I have the money.

Should make for a good trip report.
