10th October of this year. I can't stand the old 12 channel loop system. It's not so bad on an overnight flight because you just tend to eat and then sleep, but the flight leaves at 10:20am and gets into Nairobi at 8:55pm - that's a long 8/9 hour flight waiting for the film you want to watch!!

According to thebasource flights this month have been exclusively with GE engined 777s.
Only 2 flights this month have featured aircraft with New First and AVOD. All other flights have
been on aircraft with the loop system.

First of all, I hope you enjoy your stay in Nairobi - it's my home city and you are going during the brilliant time when the weather is becoming warmer - and everything is in bloom - flowers, fruit and women!
Back to the flights, I totally agree that whilst I love look out over the African lanbdscape at 30000ft+, but the 12 bog standard channels are annoying, I am not up to speed about any update plans to the 772s.
I would love for the 77W to go down to Nairobi one day - It'll be the first of it's kind there - but that is a dream.

A significant number of the 777s have the old IFE (mostly four class GE aircraft I believe), with channels operating a loop system. I believe most of the RR aircraft have the new IFE, but I could be wrong.
If the aircraft has new First, then it also has the AVOD IFE.
Next flights: LGW-LBA-LGW, LHR-SIN-SYD, SYD-BKK-LHR, LGW-GRO, GRO-CIA, CIA-MAD, MAD-LGW
