I still watch the "Airline" show featuring Southwest on Lifetime even though its in reruns. Usually we tend to see how passengers go berserk or feel that they are entitled to things even when not so at gates and airports around the world.

In a recent episode, some teenagers were trying to meet Eminem (Marshall Mathers) who was rumored to be on a Southwest plane at the airport. The gate attendant (I don't know if she was playing for the cameras.., but I tend to feel that employees on cameras tend to do so), decided to help the kids out by checking the WN reservations system to see if he was flying under his nickname or real name. I thought this was a huge invasion of privacy.

This morning on the Today show they had a "fat" woman who was told by the WN agent that she was "too fat" to fly. The agent said it in such a loud manner that others could hear the agent.

I'm not picking on WN, but has anyone seen other violation of rules or bad case of judgement by airline staff on the ground?

If you don't want your privacy to be invaded, don't be a celebrity. We pay those people's wages. It's not a lot to ask to be able to be seen by fans or, god forbid, to have to talk to them...

Well, I'm sure there was more to the story than that. What probably happened was the gate agent started off by fairly politely stating that she was too large to fly on WN's a/c and was an evacuation risk, and I'd imagine that she didn't respond very well to that and probably started shouting first, prompting the gate agent to have to shout what he/she had to say to get the message across.

Roger roger, what's our vector, victor?

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw that episode. Can anyone just walk up to a gate agent and ask for another person's travel information? It doesn't seem right.

I also disagree that celebrities are just fair game for everyone to harass. The "paying of people's wages" does not entitle anyone to anything more than the services they "paid" for. That can basically be applied to anyone. You pay the kid's wage at the fast food restaurant you bought your lunch from. Do you get to follow him home and bug him in his spare time? If you buy a ticket to a concert, movie, or sporting event and pay the wages of the actors and athletes, enjoy the show. Don't think you're entitled to much more than that.
