Any Cheap Way To Get On A Japan Domestic 747?

I'll be in Japan in November and I'm trying to do one segment on a 747 Domestic, doesn't matter which route. Being used to find cheap $50 domestic fares if booked well in advance, like in Europe, America or Africa, I looked at the fares in Japan. To my surprise domestic flights (no matter if they are months in advance or sooner) seem to be around $500, if you're lucky $250. Is there really no cheaper way than that to get on a 747 Domestic, even if one is completely flexible regarding route or time?

Is NH still operating the 744 domestically ? JL have already retired all of theirs and I thought that NH had too ?

Tickets on domestic services in Japan go online only 3 months in advance for regular prices. You must be able to find a oneway for roughly 15000~20000 JPY on some route. Just wait closer to date and check the NH website for tickets (usually the other ticket sites are much more expensive)

Yeah that is my point. 20K JPY equals 250 US$. Why so darn expensive, especially if they have 30-minute frequencies? I know Japan is an expensive country, but so is Norway or Canada, and you can find domestic flights for $50 or less in those countries!

I think I'll take a Shinkansen train instead. Too bad, I'd have loved to log a 747 Domestic.

hecked a

Yes, NH still has some 744Ds on routes like HND-CTS/FUK/OKA. On the date I checked there were about a dozen 744Ds in each direction on those 3 routes combined.

Only NH still has 744 (domestic) services, JAL not anymore.

Either buy a full fare ticket or a saver fare on the airline website but thats usually expensive. Alternatives would be to purchase a through fare with an international/domestic segment in one ticket. If you arrive in Japan on a Star Alliance carrier (paid and no non-rev) ticket you might get a Star Alliance Japan Air Pass which gets you a domestic coupon for around 11k JPY.
