Besides TATL and that is not that great with what is being offered for the same or less? The delta service is still miles behind the rest on transcon. When your paying or otherwise have paid for f/c and or b/c you expect that kinda of level of service? I have traveled transcon and AA still takes it,better employees.

Says who, you? I know it's hard to sound unbiased given my name, but I though DL's service was considered pretty good compared to other US legacies. This thread looks like it's gonna get ugly

I've done AA, DL, CO, VX, B9 and UA transcon. Nothing touches UA p.s.
Other than that B9, VX are decent, I like AAs 767s, CO and DL were OK.

B9???
I think you mean B6.
Honestly I don't think many would qualify a snack box to be an onboard meal but I guess it is better than peanuts.

mir2069 exactly what are you comparing? TATL coach and business? Transcon Y and F? You mention TATL "isn't that great" yet in comparison DL offers a choice of entree, and free wine and beer in Y. Y+ now offers same meal types but free liquor with more legroom and recline. Mid-flight snacks and pre-arrival breakfast foods are offered through Y as well. It certainly may not be on compare to SQ for whatever reason and reputation; however, neither is AA, CO, UA or US or many foreign carriers.
BusinessElite services range from seat types to a very expansive food and beverage service. I am not always overly impressed with every one of Michele Bernstein's "signature chef" preparations, but the menu's are so varied that up to 4 main course entrees may be available. Again, mid-flight 'light meals' and full pre-arrival breakfast offerings insure you're not hungry unless you choose not to eat at all. A full wine and bar service, and the new "dessert cart" service caters to various tastes and menu choices.
Domestic First Class. On a recent ATL-LAX service, we were offered the snack basket with the first after takeoff drink service, a hot dinner service that included a salad, roll, dessert and drinks of choice, after dinner coffee, and beverage service available throughout the remainder of the flight. The F/A's reminded us the snack basket was available as well that included nuts, chips, fruit and candy bars. It was a very nice service, but I don't know how it would compare to a like AA service from say DFW or ORD to LAX. My entree was chicken; does AA serve filet mignon and champagne?
Domestic Coach is Buy-On-Board that typically matches every other airline type coach service. Many of the BOB items are good but do not have to be purchased if you choose to buy a food item ahead of boarding in the terminal.
I have read that AA does have an excellent First Class product and anyone flying JFK to SFO/LAX probably have very good First Class service in this market, be it UA's p.s., or AA or DL's transcon BusinessElite service.
I fly DL a lot. I am Platinum so I have experienced a wide-ranging span of their service in F and Y. I find their crews professional and pleasant, I enjoy the F upgrades and service, and feel they attempt to deliver a consistent good product. I may not be WOW'd from a culinary standpoint on every flight, but I don't fly to eat nesessarily either. It is not fair to compare an ATL-LAX F service to an international BE experience, yet I feel DL consistently tries to provide a good service, and they treat me well on a personal basis.
I therefore vote with my wallet and fly DL as my first choice, backed up with WN and FL flights as need be so I am accustomed to varying levels of service.

It's almost as though he's trying to start a fight thread.
Step 1: Write a brief rant based on nothing but anecdotal evidence and personal opinion, yet presents it as a statement of fact:

Step 2: Watch as the widgetheads come to defend Mother Delta.
Simple Really.
Well, if we're gonna play this game today... AA hates puppies. So THERE!

The JFK-LAX/SFO (or Transcon) flights are very competitive and most airlines (AA, UA, VX, B6 and DL) offers similar products. Premium-wise, UA takes it home with their P.S. Flights though AA isn't far behind. As for economy, B6 offers the best legroom, free Direct TV and complimentary "snacks" and drinks. VX is a class of it's own, they're classy and hip, better IFE than B6 IMO, nice mood lighting though legroom is below B6's and they only give out complimentary drinks (unlimited though) Finally, DL uses their int'l configured 757s on the transcon flights, the BizElite Seats are sorta similar to VX's. As for their Y product, it's similar to VX. Legroom is still below B6's, though they still offer complimentary drinks and "snacks" as well as Direct TV whereas both UA and AA doesn't. I know people are different, but for me, IFE is one of the most important thing when I travel. On the down-side, their JFK terminals are just.....bleh.

I beg to differ. So far the airline with the best airport staff and flight attendants I've ever encountered was DL, better than B6 and VX. Of course, they were light years behind Asian carriers but for a US Carrier, they were great. The JFK staff was also helpful (shocker) IMO, DL is trying hard to please their customers, I love their brand new image and I've never had any problems with customer service.
As for AA, my family avoids them like the plague (mother's rule ) As RamblinMan said, they hate puppies!

If we are talking about the JFK-LAX/SFO transcon market, then absolutely not - I think UA is ahead by miles with their PS service followed by AA then VX. DL is fourth. Its funny though that DL is now advertising "international" service on their transcons to compete with UA PS and AA Flagship. Its no wonder that DL offers by far the cheapest fares on their transcons - they need to lure the passengers somehow.

I agree. B6 in coach is great too, especially if you are in their "more legroom" section.

Naw I would say UA's Business Class is better than DL's Biz Elite, never mind UA's F.

I've had THE worst experiences at DL's JFK terminals - seriously rude ground staff together with hopeless outdated infrastructure that is handling way more traffic that it was designed to.
Quoting JetBlue777 (Reply 6): As for AA, my family avoids them like the plague (mother's rule )
Apart from their Flagship service between LAX/SFO and JFK, I tend to agree
All this aside though I do think they offer a competitive international product in the air having flown them several times between the US and Asia - catering was fine and hardware was good (if you manage to avoid the 744s). But domestically they aren't any different from the lot. I am a firm believer that DL's saving grace is their flight attendants - DL crew have always been fresh, friendly and ready to help in my experience. Their uniforms are also the best of the US majors IMHO.
