Hey guys

A quick question - why is AF 009, the last departure from JFK to CDG canceled today and tomorrow? Apparently there is another flight, AF 009A departing at 120am tonight and AF009B departing tomorrow night at 120am as well picking up those stranded by the AF 009 cancellation?

Is this normal? What is going on!?

It's just that AF009 is delayed by a few hours and so is now flying the following day. So it is renumbered AF009A to distinguish it from the "normal" AF009 the same day (otherwise, you would have 2 AF009 the same day).

Quoting LY777 (Reply 2):
Why is it delayed?

Some ground maintenance staff on strike at CDG.

Quoting LY777 (Reply 2):
772?

Correct.

AF008 left CDG tonight at 9:20PM instead of 7:10PM.

Thanks FlySSC.
The 77W doesn't fly anymore to JFK?

AF006/007 is the A380
AF010/011 is a B744

AF022/023, 012/017, 008/009 are scheduled with a B772ER, but a B77W is often used as a substitute on one of them.

Further to that, all movements are posted by airlines in Zulu time (Greenwich) as well, so often it's not actually the same calendar day yet still causes issues because it's on the same zulu day as the priginal departure.

eg: it's 2000Z on the 14th here in AKL yet it is well into the 15th 0800.. if I have a 2355Z departure that goes 6min late at 0001Z that would force me to send it as 'A' or 'B' on that flight number, if it is a daily service because now I have 2 in the same Z day.

OK, thanks. Good to see the 744 on a more regular basis to JFK. Can't wait to see them refurbished though
