My wife is scheduled to return from POS to MIA on AAL1668 tonight. It was already delayed 4 hours leaving MIA to POS and the flight that makes up AAL1668 (AAL1647) just diverted to SDQ. Can anyone give me an idea on what the cause was? Was it mechanical or medical emergency? SDQ was the closest so I assume it was mechanical, medical you'd think they'd continue to SJU and possible more advanced facilities.

I'm in contact with my wife in POS, she has already checked in down there and her ride has left so she is stuck.

I had set up alerts via AA.com to let me know when AAL1647 landed at POS so I'd have an idea when to expect a possible departure of AAL1668 when the message came across that it was diverting. I called and let her know before they were even told locally at POS which was kinda cool...

So if anyone could pass along what happend I would greatly appreciate it. I'm having to drive down to pick up the wife from our home in MCO. So it could very well be a long night..
