A side effect of the temproary shutdown of nonessential (United States) FAA duties is that the 7.5% ticket tax is not being collected.

That was promoted as a temporary boon for flyers, however several airlines seemt to have raised fares to offset the ticket tax savings.

Anybody know who has and has not rasied fairs to offset this savings?

The airlines I follow most closely are F9, FL, and WN. It looks like F9 has not raised fares, but a quick check of FL, WN and US suggest they have.

Anyone know what other airlines have done?

I went to southwest.com, took my old reservation "changed" it to the new one, and was not charged the taxes, so I got a credit for future WN trips

So I didn't see that WN raised the airfare at least in my example.

I noticed CO has not raised fares. Bought a few tickets this morning saved money without tax. Priced yesterday in the morning and all had the tax in them. Same fare less taxes.

Worked Hard. Flew Right. Farewell, Continental. Thanks for the memories.

AA raised their fares.

OKC-DEN (DFW) is usually $59 + taxes, which is around $67.80 each way. They raised to $66.

Even though it isn't been collected, are tickets still liable for the tax so when they do start collecting again the airlines still have to pass on the receipts of the tax that should have been paid or has the tax effectively being repealled while it can't be collected??
