Hello all,

I will be in Russia next January 2012. I would love to fly on board a Tupolev TU-154. I know there are 3 airlines that fly the Tupolev 154.

1)UT air
2)Ural air
3)Кавминводыавиа

I have a specific date to fly: January 14th 2012.
This is the day I will travel from LED St-Petersburg to Moscw. DME or SVO.

I am willing to go almost anywhere in Russia to try the This bird. I could even spend a night somewhere in Russia to get to Moscow if I have to.

I would appreciate your help if you have any suggestions.

Thanks a lot to all.

Hi,

KMV Kavminvodyavia is an alomst safe TU154B/M (can be replaced by TU204 but that doesn't happen too frequent). Prices seem to start from 253EUR for a roundtrip, but well, just the question if you want to go to Mineralnye Vody.

Skyeurope is right, KMV Avia seems a good bet.

I'm going to do a roundtrip VKO-MRV-VKO in August, with the Kuban Air Lines Yak-42 on the outbound and the KMV Tu-154 on the return (I hope there won't be any equipment substitutions). The price I paid is approx. 286 € all-in for both flights.

Try booking through Kavminvodyavia's website. It is all in Russian, but with a dictionary I managed to navigate my way through it, and I paid something like £80 for a one way VKO-MRV flight. The airport itself is in a constant state of construction it seems, but the local area isn't too iffy and the reports on the net about the airport are not justified.

Are Donavia still flying a Tu-154M on SVO-MRV-SVO, it is possible as the runway at MRV is very weak apparently which is why it's a Tu-154 haven.

@Dan

Sadly they aren't flying TU154s to MRV anymore.

It's operated twice a day by 737-500 now.

Hey guys!

Thanks a lot for your replies. I really hope I will be able to board that aircraft. I think I will wait till I am in Russia. Just in case of an aircraft change at the last minute.

I have also read and found out that they are going to withdraw the Tupolev 154. I will continue to search for a possible flight...with a safe airline of course.

Thank you very much for your kind help.

OrenAir and KMV both have returned the Tu-154B-2 in service. The B-2 version was banned after the accident in January but it seems they are back in the air now.

Does anyone know which routes the Orenair Tu-154B-2 operates?

With KMV I guess it is pot puck, since the majority of their fleet is the -M version.
