I was wondering, other than aftermarket bin extension kits, does anyone know how do narrowbody overhead bins currently rank in size?

I presume that the 737 Sky Interior pivot bins currently hold the crown for the largest. I know at one point the 717 had the largest narrowbody overhead bins (717 bins are larger than the original 737NG/753 bins).

Does anyone know how they currently rank?

One thing I found out is that newer does not mean better. CI's new 744 (B-18210-15) had the new Signature interior fitted and first thing we noticed is that the center bins don't seem to fit as many rollaboards as the old one. I made many announcements at the gates when the new 744s came over to have the passengers check handcarries. That solved a bit of problem. I think there's something to do with the curvature of the bins that make the rollaboards don't sit as well.

As to the narrowbodies, I found the 737NG bins working well with its outward-curving lids. The old A320s from PMNW seemed to work but on occassion they won't close because wheel or handles caught. The DL/NW DC9s seemed to have comparable bins to the A320s.

JPS on A300-600RF A319/320 B737-400/800 B757-200F B767-300F CRJ-200/900. Looking to add more.

In the Signature Interior, it is mainly the outboard bins that have increased in size. The way pivot bins work is that they utilize space above the ceiling. That space is wasted with shelf bins, which results in smaller overall bin volume but more encroachment into the cabin. This is more of an issue on widebody aircraft than it is on narrowbody aircraft, which is why it took Boeing so long to introduce pivot bins on the 737. There is absolutely no way that Boeing would introduce a new interior with smaller overhead bins; Boeing is not stupid.

The only exception was the 747 bins vs. the original 767 bins, however, due to the 767's narrower fuselage, 747-sized shelf bins would have been too bulky for the 767's narrower cabin, causing passengers to bump their heads easily. The Signature Interior basically fixed the issue of the 767's small bins.
