I'm flying TN to PPT for my honeymoon next week and was curious if anyone has had any recent experiences with the airline? The past reports on here have been fairly positive, but the most recent reviews on Skytrax are hit or miss. In any case I'm looking forward to trying out a new airline and I'll have a trip report to share when we get back.

My travel is perhaps not as recent as you want it, but my experience was very good. Got what I expected. Nice food. Better than any American airline I have flown ( sorry ). I flew Air Tahiti Nui in august 2010 from Los Angeles to Papeete. I flew economy.

Congrats on the big occasion.

IMO, things at TN have indeed gotten worse in recent years. They do have new management which smartly is trying to earn a profit after 10-years of losses, however things like service and staff morale have taken a hit. Also the aircraft and cabins are aging with more and more complaints of broken IFE. I also hear the staff in PPT are real Nazi's now in regards to baggage weight and carry-ons.

One positive is they do often sell same day upgrades to business class at the airport on first come basis. While the product is not the most moderns (new cabin refits will start in 2012), its certainly going to be more comfortable than Y class. Might be worth asking about.

Have a good trip.

Thanks for the feedback. No need to apologize, long haul Y class on most American airlines is generally an unremarkable experience.

Thanks, I appreciate the insight, and the well wishes! Hopefully the IFE will work for the sake of my fiance lol. Aren't they supposed to be getting rid of the 340's in a few years? I'll have to check on the upgrade to C @ LAX, thanks for the tip. Not sure how full our flight will be since November seems to be an off-peak month for Tahiti tourism, but we're flying out on a Sunday, so I guess it could very well be full.
