With the new International Terminal/Concourse F at ATL opening in the spring, the train will likely be getting a new voice, as there has to be a message for Concourse F, and all of the messages should have the same voice for consistency. So, what would you like to hear for the new voice?
I would actually like it if Deltalina recorded the voice for the train. The NATO Phonetic Alphabet should again be used, adding "Concourse F as in Foxtrot". Also, sound effects should be brought back; good sound effects would be some smooth jazz guitar chords.
Also, I wonder, could the doors closing message on the stations finally be replaced? Those still use the 1995 male voice.

Dear God no.
I vote for getting David Cross to do it. Or if they want a local, Jeff Foxworthy.

It will probably be a female voice, as studies have shown people pay more attention to a female voice than they do with a male voice. This was likely the reason why ATL switched to a female voice, as well as identifying the concourses with the NATO Phonetic Alphabet. The ATL SkyTrain uses a female voice as well.

Not going to happen; they got rid of that voice since it was too difficult for foreign travelers to understand. I don't think they would take a step backward with the opening of Concourse F.

I don't know if I buy that, but they did get rid of the "color-coded maps and signs to match the station colors."
I think that more people would pay attention to a Cyborg voice....how about a Cyborg female?

It could grab someone's attention more, yet be more difficult to understand at the same time. I think a human female voice identifying each concourse with the NATO Phonetic Alphabet is the right approach. Sound effects should be brought back as well, as pretty much all other airports' automated people movers have them.

Yes, otherwise we would still have the original Cylon voice.

There have been several changes, actually:
1980-1995 - Cylon Voice.
1995-2002 - Human male voice with sound effects.
2002-2005 - New human male voice (introduced with new CX-100 vehicles), sound effects removed.
2005-2006 - First human female voice. Also, there was a short lived male voice in 2005 that identified each concourse with different names (not the NATO Phonetic Alphabet).
2006-2012 - Human female voice with NATO Phonetic Alphabet..
2012-future - ???

Why not? Practically all other airports' APMs have them. The ATL SkyTrain even has sound effects.

Simple - noise for the sake of noise is unnecessary clutter. Just because everyone does it doesn't mean it's a good thing. The current system works fine - just find the person who did the voice before, have her pop in the studio for 5 minutes, record the three lines of material for Concourse F and be done with it.

I'm perfectly fine with keeping the existing voice, however, they will need to find the lady who recorded it to add a Concourse F message. I would like sound effects (such as smooth jazz guitar chords) just to spice things up a bit.

I remember years ago reading that they got rid of the robo-voice specifically in preparation for the 1996 Olympics. This was part of an airport update/beautification project and it included new carpet for all concourses. Which has since been replaced with tile.
