According to aa.com, the flight continues only tomorrow Monday at 1000AM arriving SFO at 1220P local time. Will the plane be repaired and put back into service or will it be scrapped like the one that suffered an engine explosion in LAX back in 2006? Smoke in the cockpit, I don't think we can call that damaged beyond economical repair. It might just be a circuit breaker in the cockpit that blew out.

First AA widebody in years probably, since they used to fly the DC-10s into BUF!

The current plan is to ferry acft 332 from JFK to BUF in the morning. Those pilots will take the "broken" acft 328 back to JFK while the original crew (and pax) fly BUF-SFO. Still a "fluid" situation so the only thing that is "firm" for the moment is the two reserve JFK based pilots assigned to fly the ferry flights to/from BUF.

It's since been flown back to JFK, so I would assume it has been, or will be, repaired and returned to service.
