Hi folks,

Just want to know your opinion on this concept of business class:

The only way tolook at the window when the seat is moved to bed. But you are not able to do it while landing and takeoff - the most attractive part of the flight to look outside. In my eyes concept is just mad. However I've asked guys from JA and they told me - there were no any claims on that. What is the sense? More seats in BC? More comfort for the majority of customers?

What do you think about it?

Any "window" seat where you can't look out the window at any moment you want, from sit-down to deplaning, is a seat I have no interest in sitting in.

I think JET AIRWAYS is only following the global trend... Many airlines using this configuration:

Yes for many of us a.netters it is indeed very attractive to look outside, but the carriers doesn't design their products for our desires. We have to keep in mind that most passengers don't even bother to look out of the window even if they have a window seat.

The advantage of this design is that the airline can offer you a full flat bed instead of just a lie flat bed and for some pasengers this is more important than a window.



It's better to be in the air wishing you were on the ground than being on the ground wishing you were in the air

I flew on DL's 777LR in BusinessElite LAX-SYD in this configuration. I picked my seats carefully, knowing there was restricted window viewing due to the herringbone layout.
For the LAX-SYD leg, I choose seats in the center section as this segment is all at night in that dark until sunrise arrival in SYD. Granted I saw nothing of Australia on our approach, but enjoyed the quiet and privacy our seats in row 6 afforded for the long overnight flight. I observed that most window passengers did not even glance out during takeoff at LAX or approach and landing in SYD. I've never understood why people select window seats and promptly close the shade - other than to lean against the wall to sleep maybe.
On the return leg SYD-LAX, we selected window seats as several hours of flight was in daylight. It takes a twist and crook of neck to look out but a window fan will still enjoy the view......and put up with the effort to look out. As mentioned by others, I don't think airlines relate to customer's interest in looking out, or those of us who are entertained by sky, cloud, ocean, land and parts of airplane views. The herringbone design insures every seat has direct aisle access with the flat bed feature which is a big selling point to premium passengers.
I look forward to DL's new "reverse" herringbone layout which angles the seat towards the window. The best of both worlds for us window and aisle fans.
Overall, the service and comfort on this long flight was excellent, and we enjoyed the window seats more because we had light and views in comparison to the dark overnight flight. You can make it work in any regard, and as others have noted.....Boy so much more comfortable than further back!

Well, call me mad, but I love it. My favorite seat on TATL flights is 9A on an AC A330. It's not easy to see out the window (but doable), but there's so much privacy in exchange, I think it's great!

I doubt 1 in 100 passengers cares. People pay for flat-bed seats so they can sleep, not look out the window. Most frequent business travellers have flown so much, looking out the window isn't a priority. When I first started flying I always insisted on a window seat. Now I''m unhappy if I can't get an aisle seat.

Also no privacy if you're using a laptop. For the same reasons I always hated office cubicles where you faced away from the entrance and people could sneak up behind you.

I've got the point regarding bed, however I feel myself fine in classic BC seats as well most of them on long-houl can be modified to bed - not a big win. As about comfort - it might be my personal psychologic thing, but I won't be much happy to travel in small 'coffin'. To have a space around me is kind of benefit.

was the fact that everybody who walks down the aisle looks right into your face. I can't close an eye feeling watched like that and was extremely let down, given the high expectations I was having.

On another occasion I burned some FF miles on BA on LHR-GRU-LHR and spent LHR-GRU flying backwards, GRU-LHR without windows. What a joke that was.

Luckily for me, I can only afford economy travel    Problem = Solved.

I have flown a similar configuration on NZ 3 times. PVG-AKL , AKL-HKG, HKG-AKL. Every flight has been an overnight flight over water with nothing to look at. As much as I like to look out the window while I am at the airport I just love this configuration. True lie flat, no slippery slope. Direct aisle access for each seat.... I don't have to climb over anyone and they don't have to climb over me. I slept so well that the cabin crew on AKL-HKG actually had a hard time waking me for breakfast.


Moderation in all things ... including moderation ;-)
