Hey everyone, merry Christmas!
In April, my family and I are planning a trip to Switzerland and spain. We were originally going to travel to South Africa on EK F, but decided to go to switzerland and spain instead. For anybody who has travelled on the new Swiss F on the A330 from JFK to ZRH, is it a good product? The price is very convincing, at $5500 per person, with a total of $22000 for the 4 of us. I've never seen First class so cheap. Even LH to FRA is more expensive. Do you think we should take this offer?

Swiss has a very good first class product. Not as extravagant as your normal EK flight, but one of the better transatlantic products out there.
If you have never designed an airplane part before, let the real designers do the work!

And do any of you know why it is so cheap? $5500 for RT in LX F, while LH F RT is $14000 per passenger.

LX First is FABULOUS.
The world is missing love, let's use our flights to spread it!

I think calling it cheap is the wrong choice of words. Perhaps other carriers over price their first class?
In reality using the two examples that you provided, LX has different hubs than LH so they are flying different routes. You have to price your seats according to the specifics of the route you are flying. LX could decide to raise their prices but then maybe none of their customers would pay for first class and would only fly in business class or worst they would migrate to other carriers. Pricing is a balance which of course involves yield management but you have to keep in mind that other realities existed as well, all routes have maximum fares that the intended customer will be willing to pay. If you go above that, you have fewer or no customers at all.
The mind, like a parachute, functions only when open.

It's just that, being a frequent EK F/J passenger, we pay almost 3 to 4 times that for first class, and sometimes twice that business class on EK, so I wasnt sure why it wasn't as expensive.
