I'm flying out of JFK for the first time on B6 and was hoping for some help.

I'm going to take the path from Newport to Penn Station, then the LIRR to Jamaica and airtran to the terminal. Can anyone recoomend how long it should take or what time I should leave? My flight departs JFK at 3:45pm. I was thinking about leaving 11am which I'm thinking should get me in around 12:30 the latest. Should I leave earlier or can I leave later? I've never flown out of JFK so don't really know what to expect secuirty and lines wise at T5. Also if anyone has any suggestions where to eat before hand or any spot at T5 I should hit up would be helpful.

You can leave at noon and still have plenty of time and B6 terminal is full of food options.

Let's work backwards.

345p, get there 1.5 hours early...215p.

Ride from Jamaica to T5 is around15-20 minutes. Let's say 20 minutes.

Wait for train could be as long as 10 minutes.

At Jamaica no later than 145pm.

There is a 105, 114, and 122 departing Penn and arriving at 126, 135, and 142 respectively.

Now coordinate a train from Penn to do that

A totally different and likely quicker way:

Path to WTC, A train Chambers to Atlantic/Pacific, LIRR from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica.

If you take the A train from Chambers St, can't you stay on it to Howard Beach and get the airtrain there? Likely faster than LIRR to Jamaica, unless the connection is perfect.
